Around 5:53 p.m., Manchester police responded to Lake Shore Road to investigate a report that a white Chevrolet truck belonging to Carl Manning had been spotted parked alongside the road. Manning was sought by police for questioning in a suspicious fire and explosion that had occurred earlier that day. Police alleged Manning was armed and shot and killed him when he moved his handgun from his own head and began pointing it at the officers.
