Around 8:30 p.m., Richmond County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a motel to make a welfare check on Goldie Bellinger. Bellinger was staying at the hotel, and when deputies arrived and made contact Bellinger refused to speak with them and barricaded himself in a room. He allegedly came out and shot at police who shot and killed him.
