At 5:09 a.m., police received a complaint of a other traveling between Oskaloosa and Pella. Shortly after, Marion County Dispatch received a similar report. A Marion County deputy located the other and made a traffic stop near Otley, Iowa. After the deputy stopped the other and made contact with the driver, the driver sped off, and the deputy pursued at high speeds. The pursued driver lost control of the other, which rolled several times, struck a building. The driver was ejected and killed.
