Around 12:30 a.m., Patterson police attempted to stop a other, driven by 39-year-old Joseph B. James. James allegedly refused to stop and police pursued, reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour, until the other ran off the road and struck a tree. The crash killed 46-year-old Warren Joe Hines, Jr. and 17-year-old Markqel James, both of Franklin, both of whom were passengers in the pursued other.
