Around 2:45 a.m., a Coon Rapids police officer reportedly observed traffic violations by a man on a motorcycle . With emergency lights activated, the officer attempted to stop him when the motorcyclist fled at a high rate of speed. The driver allegedly ignored a stop sign and collided with another other. The motorcycle operator, Michael Manos, was killed.
