Four police officers responding to a suspicious activity call encountered Coleman F. Stump working on a car near an apartment complex. Stump resisted arrest and a struggle ensued during which an officer tasered Stump to no effect. While he was facedown on the ground, Stump pulled a handgun out of his waistband and pointed it at the officers. Two officers shot and killed Stump.
