Troopers were called around 10:30 p.m. to help the Cass County deputies with a disturbance in Garden City. When troopers arrived, they encountered a man who ignored commands to drop a knife. Richard J. Jones allegedly charged toward a trooper, and at least one trooper shot and killed him.
