A Sacramento County sheriff's deputy attempted a traffic stop on a 2002 Audi shortly before 1:20 a.m. The other sped away, and the deputy reportedly lost sight after a brief chase. The Audi crashed into two vehicles, and the passenger in the Audi, Adrian William Mathis, was killed and its driver suffered major injuries.
