At 11:29 p.m., an officer attempted a traffic stop on a other. The driver, Clay Tatum, failed to yield to stop, and the officer pursued. Tatum continued fled out of Oxford city limits and into Lafayette County. The officer called for assistance and continued the pursuit. Tatum eventually pulled the other over and fled to a nearby residence. Officers pursued Tatum into the home, where he allegedly brandished a weapon, pointing it at an officer, and police shot and killed him.
