Officers responded to Gabriel and Hudson streets, where the man arrived at the residence of his child's mother at around 9:30 p.m. There, he allegedly shot another man who emerged from the house. The man pulled out a gun at the first responding officer, and she retreated. Other officers arrived and kept a 25-to-30-foot distance from the man as he walked around, while attempting to get him to drop the weapon. After 15 or 20 minutes, officers attempted to disable him with a stun gun. The man reportedly fired twice at the police officers, and a total of five officers shot and killed him.
