Police said Vedo Hall was holding a woman hostage inside the Park Vista Apartments. When police knocked on the door, Hall reportedly threatened to shoot. Officers set up a barricade outside the building, but Hall escaped out a back window with the woman he was holding hostage. A police officer shot and killed him a few blocks away on Alabama Avenue.
