Deadly force

Phoenix police responded to reports of a domestic violence incident at around 7:12 p.m. at an apartment complex. The caller reported that her husband struck her and was armed with a knife. When officers arrived, the woman told police her five children were still in the apartment with her husband, who was armed with a knife. Miguel F. Hernandez-Rodriguez walked out of the front door armed with a knife as an officer walked toward the apartment. Hernandez continued toward officers while holding a knife, and an officer shot and killed him.
