A deputy tried to make a traffic stop on Keith Cole on Highway 4. Cole was wanted on a domestic violence warrant. Cole pulled over and got out of his car and ran into the woods. The deputy reportedly approached Cole as he hid behind a tree, and the deputy fired when Cole came out with a hand on his waistband. The deputy shot and killed Cole. There was no weapon found.
