Deadly force
Austin Code Department and APD officers visited the resident at his home to cut his overgrown lawn. Someone in the home allegedly shot at them. Robert Richart fired more shots at officers and started a fire inside the home. Richart allegedly exited the home through the garage with a weapon in hand. Officer Eric Strnad shot and killed Richart.
