Mohammad Ali Hussein Abu Kafia, aged 36, was a respected teacher and educational counselor from Beit Ijza, a small village northwest of occupied Jerusalem in the West Bank. He was married and the father of three children—the youngest just six years old. On September 24, 2022, while returning home from Qalqilia, Mohammad was involved in a traffic accident when his car collided with an unoccupied Israeli police vehicle parked near the Havat Gilad illegal settlement. Although no Israeli personnel were reported injured and the police later confirmed the vehicle was empty, Israeli soldiers at the scene quickly opened fire, killing Mohammad. The Israeli army initially claimed the incident was a deliberate ramming attack, despite lacking immediate evidence to support the allegation. His cousin, Ramadan Abu Kafia, and other family members denounced the shooting as an unjustified execution. The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the killing and called on the international community and the International

How they died

He was killed by Israeli soldiers

Mohammad Ali Hussein Abu Kafia was fatally shot by Israeli soldiers after his car was involved in a traffic accident with an empty Israeli police vehicle. Despite the absence of immediate danger or any confirmed threat, the soldiers opened fire on Mohammad, alleging it was a "deliberate ramming attack." However, eyewitness accounts and later statements, including one from the Israeli police denying any injuries to officers, suggest the crash was accidental. This pattern of quick, lethal response against Palestinians involved in traffic incidents—without proper investigation—reflects a broader policy of shoot-to-kill based on mere suspicion.
