Ahmed Hisham Abu al-Rous was a 29-year-old Palestinian journalist and photographer devoted to documenting life in Gaza. He worked as a reporter and photographer for the local Assulta Arrabaa (Fourth Estate) news agency. Beyond his journalism, Ahmed was recognized for his humanitarian efforts, frequently offering aid to displaced families during times of war.

Aware of the dangers he faced, Ahmed recorded a video message before his death, in which he expressed his readiness for martyrdom and asked viewers to pray for him. He gave the message to a colleague, Noor Harazeen, to share if he was killed.

On January 15, 2025, Ahmed was killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted his vehicle near Muscat School in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. The attack also took the lives of his twin brother, Mohamed, and three others. Ahmed’s death highlights the grave risks faced by journalists reporting from conflict zones and the deep commitment many make to truth and justice, even at the cost of their lives.
