Their life

Nesreen Abdu was a devoted mother and grandmother living in Gaza City. Known for her warmth and strength, she dedicated her life to raising her children with compassion and resilience amidst the hardships of life under siege. Nesreen’s home was a place of love, learning, and hope—a sanctuary that was tragically destroyed in an Israeli airstrike.

Her son, Ubaida Abdu, a young husband and father, was known for his kindness and quiet determination. He was married to Malak, a caring and gentle woman who shared his devotion to family life. Together, they were raising their two children—Siwar, a curious and bright child, and Mohammed, still very young, the youngest light of the household.

Also killed in the airstrike were Omer Abdu, Ubaida’s sibling, and Layan Abdu, the youngest daughter of Nesreen, both remembered for their youthful spirit and dreams that will now remain unfulfilled.

On that early morning, the entire family—Nesreen, Ubaida, Malak, Omer, Layan, Siwar, and Mohammed—was killed in a single moment, buried under the rubble of their bombed home. Their deaths are not just statistics—they are a story of a family erased, and a reminder of the profound human cost of war.

How they died

Israeli airstrike on civilian home in Gaza City.

In the early hours of the morning, at approximately 4:30am (2:30 GMT), an Israeli warplane bombed the family home of Nesreen Abdu in Gaza City. The airstrike caused a total collapse of the building while the family was asleep, resulting in the immediate deaths of all those inside.

A plea from the family

Since Nesreen Abdu’s entire immediate family was killed, the plea of surviving relatives—especially from her brother, Ramy Abdu, who is a known public figure and human rights advocate—becomes the most powerful voice left to speak on behalf of those lost.
