How they died

Killed during nationwide protests in Tehran. Gilak citizen from Gurab Zarmikh, resident of Tehran. After his death, security agencies attempted to portray him as a 'Basiji' member, but a close relative protested stating that Mohammad Aftabi was a protester and freedom seeker who was killed by government forces. His family was put under pressure and not allowed to publicly or through media report about how he was killed. His body was buried in his birthplace, Gurab Zarmikh.
