On September 10, 2025, Israeli airstrikes struck the newspaper complex housing the 26 September and Yemen newspapers in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa. The targeted bombardment resulted in a catastrophic loss of life, killing at least 31 journalists and media staff, including Abbas Al-Dailami. The attack has been described as the deadliest massacre of journalists since the 2009 Maguindanao massacre in the Philippines. Eyewitnesses reported that multiple missiles struck in rapid succession, collapsing the newsroom while staff were at their desks. Abbas, along with many of his colleagues, died instantly in the rubble of what once served as one of Yemen’s most active journalistic hubs.
