Ibrahim al-Thaher, 25, was a talented Palestinian photojournalist and cameraman for Al Jazeera who dedicated his life to documenting the realities of Gaza. Born in the Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza, he began his career as a graphic designer before turning to journalism in 2018 during the Great March of Return protests. His partnership with close friend and classmate, Al Jazeera reporter Anas al-Sharif, made them a well-known duo in Gaza’s media scene — al-Thaher behind the camera and al-Sharif in front of it. On 10 August 2025, while working together in a media tent near Shifa Hospital, Ibrahim was killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted his friend. He worked for several local outlets, including Al Shamal Online, where his photographs captured both the resilience and suffering of his people.
