On May 10, 2021, Israeli warplanes fired two missiles at the al-Masri family home in Beit Hanoun, northern Gaza. The explosions destroyed the building completely, trapping and crushing those inside. Ahmad, along with his 1-year-old cousin Yazin, his 10-year-old cousin Ibrahim, his 12-year-old cousin Marwan, and 10-year-old cousin Rahaf, were all killed instantly. The sheer force of the blast left no chance for survival, turning their family home into rubble.

Biography

Ahmad Mohammad Atallah al-Masri, 20, was a young man from Beit Hanoun, in northern Gaza. He was killed on May 10, 2021, when his family home was struck by Israeli missiles during a wave of bombardments on Gaza. Ahmad died alongside his younger siblings and cousins, leaving his community devastated by the loss of a young life full of promise.

Ahmad Mohammad Atallah al-Masri was only 20 years old when his life was cut short in the first days of Israel’s 2021 assault on Gaza. He lived in Beit Hanoun, a town in northern Gaza, where he was part of a close-knit family. Ahmad grew up surrounded by his younger siblings and relatives, many of whom looked up to him as a protective older brother and cousin. His life was just beginning, a stage where dreams of study, work, and building a future often take shape. Instead, he was killed in the very home that should have been his shelter, along with four of his younger relatives—children aged 1 to 12—when two missiles struck the family house, flattening it and crushing everyone inside.
